New Look Leytonstone on YouTube

YouTube New Look Leytonstone screenshotGiven the popularity of the photos I posted a few weeks ago about all the new changes in Leytonstone, I’ve now created a screenshow and posted this on YouTube.

You can see it here, and it will have a longer-term home on the New Look Leytonstone page.

Please share with anyone who might be interested!

Leytonstone now on Pinterest

Pinterest logo Pinterest is one of the new kids on the block in the social media world.

A favourite of Barack Obama’s campaign it’s seen lightning growth in the USA in the last year and has started to take off in a big way in the UK, though one report I read last week suggested that its growth may now be slowing.

Pinterest is an electronic noticeboard that combines photos with text and comments, a sort of amalgamation of Flickr and Facebook. It’s entirely free and is used by hobbyists as well as companies posting pictures of their products.

I don’t know whether there will be much benefit to having photos of Leytonstone on there, but I thought I’d give it a try.

My Leytonstone Pinterest site is: http://pinterest.com/leytonstonee11/leytonstone/

New Look Leytonstone

Outside Leytonstone station towards Church Lane

Outside the station towards Church Lane

The last week or so has seen the finishing touches to the building work that has been going on the length of Leytonstone High Road, in the town centre and along Whipps Cross Road to give Leytonstone a new and brighter look ready for the Olympics.

I haven’t managed to get photos of everything, the weather has not been so kind, but I’ve added a collection of photos showing most of the work and I’ve summarised some of the other main changes that have happened in the last year or so on New Look Leytonstone.

A lot has happened, new pubs, a market, an art gallery and more and all against the backdrop of one of the most horrible recessions in living history.

So, if you know someone thinking of moving to Leytonstone, investing here, or who just has a view of the area which is second hand or out of date, please share on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, by email or however you can and send them to this page, it might just help!

Welcome to Leytonstone London E11

November 2013:
This site is no longer being regularly updated as I have moved from Leytonstone. I hope you have enjoyed using this site. A lot of text and pictures will still be relevant for a long time to come but please check other information in case it is out of date.

Please do NOT contact me to do errands for you.

Leytonstone doesn’t have an official website, but I created this website to act as a link to all the other main official and unofficial community and resident association websites in the area.In Free time you can find out about the increasingly lively arts and music scene in Leytonstone, our own local Woodhouse Players and the Pop-up Cinema, sports facilities and where to eat out. Take a look at the Calendar for key dates of major events in Leytonstone and the borough. There’s practical information on doctors and dentists under Health, on schools and colleges under Education, and who your councillors and MPs/MEPs are under Democracy. There are profiles of the different areas and links to residents’ associations under Areas and a page for local Charities.

At the bottom and side of each page you’ll find useful links and/or live feeds to Transport for London, The Highways Agency, the Waltham Forest Guardian, Evening Standard and the local weather forecast.

If you live in Leytonstone, bookmark this site, I hope it will be the best one-stop-shop for everything that’s happening in the area.

If you’re new to Leytonstone I hope it will give you the best introduction to the area and prove that, whatever people may think about the rest of London, in the East End we’re friendly and welcoming.

The site aims to be accurate and informative, unbiased and to give a balanced view. It aims to work with, and support the local community, not compete with any other resources. It’s not an official site by any means, and nobody has paid anything towards it, so it is entirely free of influence!

I hope you enjoy the site and find it useful. The site is constantly being updated, so keep coming back: and pass on the link to anyone you know who will find it relevant. If you have suggestions for new content, or spot anything that’s no longer correct, please do let me know using the Contact Form.

Best wishes
